•       I.             Sportsmanship and Conduct

•A.     I will comply with By-Laws and Standing Rules of the Lone Star Miniature Schnauzer Club of Dallas, Inc., and with all American Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

•B.     I will not deliberately or indirectly degrade any member, his breeding stock or kennel operation, even under the guise of joking.

•C.    I will not recommend or endorse any product or service in the name of the club or incur liability on behalf of the organization pursuant to resolution of the board of Directors and Officers.

•D.    I will not give, sell, or otherwise supply a roster or membership list of the Lone Star Miniature Schnauzer Club of Dallas, Inc. to any person(s), associations, or corporations for the purpose of being used by these for a mailing list for any product, publication, service, or other form of solicitation unless such action has been approved by the Board of Directors of the club.

•E.     I will help to educate the public about the Miniature Schnauzer breed and the Breed Standard as adopted by the American Miniature Schnauzer Club and the American Kennel Club.

•     II.            Breeding

•A.     As a breeder, I will only breed dogs so as to improve the breed as defined by the Breed Standard.

•1.   I will not knowingly breed any dog or bitch that has defects of a nature that will make it detrimental to the     Miniature Schnauzer breed.  (i.e. cleft palate, monarchism or cryptorchism, albinism, white or parti-colored           schnauzers)

•2.   I will not breed nor breed to any dog or bitch that is known to be overly aggressive, excessively shy, or a fear biter.

•B.     I will refuse stud service to any bitch that is unregistered and I will not breed my bitch to an unregistered male.

•C.    I will make an effort to find a complimentary mate for my dog or bitch for breeding purposes.

•  III.            Sale of puppies or Adult Animals

  • A. I will not sell dogs or donate dogs to commercial dog wholesalers or retailers, nor to laboratories except those approved by the club.
  • B. I will not broker puppies, nor accept commissions on the sale of any puppies. I will not purchase puppies from others for the purpose of resale.
  • C. I will not knowingly sell, lease, or transfer any dog that has defects of a nature that would make it detrimental to the Miniature Schnauzer breed (i.e. cleft palate, monarchism or cryptorchism, albinism, white or parti-colored schnauzers) unless it has been spayed or neutered, or is sold or transferred under a spay/neuter contract or under limited registration.
  • D. I will not sell stock without true representation to the purchaser, nor use misleading untruthful statements in selling or advertising.
    • 1. No puppy under four (4) months of age shall be sold as a "show dog", or as so called "show potential." Both terms, due to the young age of the puppy are without foundation, and would therefore be strictly undesirable inference selling.
    • 2. No puppy over four (4) months of age shall be sold as a "show dog" unless pointed.
  • E. I will maintain high standards of health and care for my dogs.
    • 1. I will furnish buyers with a health certificate from a veterinarian to show the animal is in good health when sold.
    • 2. Dogs especially puppies must be inoculated prior to being sold and evidence of this will be furnished to the purchaser at the time of sale.
    • 3. Puppies will not be delivered to their new owner prior to eight (8) weeks of age or older as may be required by law.
    • 4. I will not sell puppies or older dogs believed to be sound physically for less than one hundred dollars ($100.00). Prices of the puppies should be based on individual quality and in no way should the quality be a detriment to the breed or this club.

IV. The above objects are to be carried out in a spirit of harmony, cooperation and friendship among the members, and always in the best interest of the Miniature Schnauzer Breed and Fanciers.

The Code of Ethics was adopted by vote of the membership at the montly   meeting January 26,, 1994.
